Clary Sage
Salvia sclarea
Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation from the fresh flowering tops.
Clary Sage can cause intoxication if used too much.  It can also increase the effects of alcohol, so do not use when under the influence.  Do not drive while under the influence of Clary Sage.  All of this makes Clary Sage a great oil for nervous tension.
BLENDING, NOTE, SCENT:  Clary Sage is a Middle note oil.  It is thought to blend well with Lavender,  Basil, Bergamot, Chamomile Roman, Geranium, Juniper, Lavender, Neroli, Sandalwood, Ylang Ylang. I have had great success blending it with Lavender (see my Restful Sleep Blend Salts and Restful Sleep Mists).   Other combinations are currently being tested.  Add this page to your favorites, for future results.
The scent of the Clary Sage we currently carry is heavy, herbaceous and deeply floral at the same time.
Properties – Antidepressant, antiphologistic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, aphrodisiac, astringent, carminative, deodorant, hypotensive, nervine, sedative, tonic (SEE GLOSSARY, click on your browser's back button to return to this page.)

Principal Constituents – Lynalyl acetate (up to 75 - 80%), linalol, pinene, mycrene and phellandrene.

Comments: So what does all this mean?  Check out the Glossary.  But, to summarize,  Clary sage is good for muscular aches and pains, depression, frigidity, migraines, nervous tension and stress-related disorders, PMS
